We are currently seeking talented candidates for the position of Senior Design Engineer for our Dulles, VA and Baltimore, MD sites.  The Senior Design Engineer will provide leadership and management for a group of design engineers in performing system design and document production.  Duties and responsibilities can be located below:

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:  To provide leadership and management for a group of design engineers in performing HVAC system design and document production.  This position is responsible for managing the design on projects of large scale and is also expected to perform engineering tasks similar to that of a Design Engineer III.

 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Participates in conceptual design for projects of large scale.Directs the work of a group of design engineers.Responsible for quality and engineering budget and scheduling control for work assigned to a particular project.Attends meetings in the role of a design professional with clients, architects and other design disciplines.Represents the company in a sales support role when negotiating for new work and as a design professional at project design team meetings.Establish and maintain a project scheduling and time control system.Assist in maintaining quality control by checking work sent out by the engineering department.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

 Strong knowledge of HVAC design to include types of equipment utilized in the industry as well as general understanding of system operations (i.e. variable air, constant volume, refrigeration cycle.)Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, including project management and field trades.Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.Competent with general business writing and public speaking.Has competency in basic computer skills to include CAD, Trane Software and Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel.)

 

EDUCATION:

 

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, E.I.T. certificate desirable.  Must have P.E.

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

10-20 Years in related field.

 

 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

 

· Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of CAD drawings, Blueprints, Submittals, etc.

· Knowledge of building HVAC mechanical systems

· Ability to work at a computer terminal with mouse and keyboard for several hours per day.

· Ability to visit job construction hard hat areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to construction equipment.
