Explore the opportunity of world-changing work available to you below. CH2MHILL needs to build additional strength in its Piping department for Power Generation facilities with a near term focus on individuals experienced with gas turbine / combined cycle facilities.  However, someone experienced with coal based projects will help augment efforts to win and execute Coal Fired Projects. Experience with the backend portion of these projects, specifically scrubbers, Baghouses, Precipitators and other Air Quality related items is desired.  This individual will report directly to the Power Piping Engineering Manager.  The individual should be comfortable without close oversight and feedback (self starter – low maintenance). Because the group is experiencing rapid growth, the person needs to be able to cope with ambiguity and uncertainty and needs to be an independent stand alone performer.  Individuals who require management involvement to be effective should not be considered.  The individual needs to have a strong personality and able to carry their view point while maintaining the cooperation of others.  The ability to coordinate and integrate effectively with the other discipline leads is needed.• Development and/ or review and checking of piping material and construction specifications.• Development and/ or review and checking of manhour estimates and Material Take Offs (MTO’s) for proposal efforts.• Development and/ or review and checking of material requisitions.• Management and checking of stress analyses of critical piping systemsThe day to day duties involve functioning in the capacity as a lead engineer to Include· Attending weekly design and progress meetings · Distributing work load and mentoring / supervising  and managing jr. engineers and designers · Responsible for Project Piping deliverables which the individual must ensure adhere to corporate and client design standards· Maintain list databases, data sheet development, MTOs, procurement lists· Interface and conduct inter- discipline coordination with other discipline leads· Interface and coordinate with the client and field personnel· Ability to design to specifications / not over engineer or exceed specifications· Develop man-hour / manpower estimates and review designs for constructability, construction sequencing· Vendor selection and technical review of vendor proposals· Personal attributes:  The right person will enjoy a rapidly growing organization and will be comfortable without excessive supervision and will like the opportunities and flexibility that are available when every standard and procedure is not completely in place.· The person will thrive on technically complex and diverse work and have a business mind which understands the economics that drive each project and will want to help the group contribute excellent finished designs and profits to the company.· The individual does not want to be pigeonholed and wants to broaden their base of experience · The person will report directly to the Power  Piping Engineering Manager and day to day responsibility would be to the individual Project Engineering Manager for the projects you are assigned ( the project and the work is the boss)  General duties and responsibilities applicable to all senior engineering candidates:Performs a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of projects.Provide technical support to projects in all phases of work from investigation through construction and commissioning. Independently evaluate, select, use and maintain compliance to standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for technical projects. Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues and break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks for execution by junior personnel. Establish scope, schedules and cost controls consistent with your discipline and compatible with client objectives. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Power Piping Engineering Manager, CH2M HILL Power Business Group QualificationsPE with a Minimum of 5 years experience in coal and gas fired power projects."10 years of piping stress analysis, 5 of which must be management and checking of other stress analyst s work"10 years experience in an EP&C oriented environment"5 years experience in critical power plant piping system evaluation, analysis and modifications"10 years experience developing pipe support details, 5 of which must be management and checking of other designers and engineers work"10 years working knowledge of ASME Piping and Boiler & Pressure Vessel Codes"5 years working knowledge of piping material and construction specifications"5 years field experience in gas and coal fired power plantsPreferred Qualifications:The person will thrive on technically complex and diverse work and have a business mind which understands the economics that drive each project and will want to help the group contribute excellent finished designs and profits to the company. The individual does not want to be pigeonholed and wants to broaden their base of experience Expertise in power plant design, power plant operations, maintenance, and field construction for new and existing facilities." Development and review of critical and balance of plant piping systems to include: analysis, design, material selection, layout, construction specifications, equipment & material specifications and purchasing. " Superior proficiency at software based and manual calculations to validate proposed pipe and critical pipe systems.
