The selected candidate will be responsible for the design and drafting procedures which includes producing or supervising the production of working construction drawings, layout drawings and technical information in a safe and economical manner.



 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

 

The duties and responsibilities listed below are provided as a general guideline for purpose of explaining the major functions of this position.  These duties and responsibilities may be modified in the future as deemed necessary by the company.

 

Supervise the branch draftsperson where applicableSafely Design scaffolding, forming or shoring layouts accordingAssisting the sales staff in bid determinationPlanning and scheduling design and drafting procedures in accord with national, local and company standardsProvide job site service for purpose of evaluating and resolving problemsWork with customers and contractors as directed by the branch manager, regional manager or division engineeringUse AutoCAD and other relevant design and engineering software to maximize performance and assure accuracyCheck layout drawings for conformity to safe company practices while also assuring that customer requirements are satisfied.Obtains factual information pertaining to the application problems from the Division Engineering departmentObtains the necessary approvals from Branch and Divisional Engineering May make material recommendations and provide estimates depending competency in this areaWorks directly with the regional manager, sales managers and divisional engineering staff in order to assure that projects are designed in a manner that assures value added customer satisfaction and project efficiency

 

Skills and Experience Required

 Application of civil and mechanical engineering principlesAbility to develop approaches and techniques that resolve problemsA four year college degree in civil or mechanical engineeringOne to three years construction industry experience with special emphasis on forming, shoring and/or scaffolding design, erection and dismantling.
