Technology Operations Director

 

MTA/Bridges and Tunnels, the largest bridge and tunnel authority in the nation, is seeking a Technology Operations Director to work in our New York office.

 

In this position, you will direct the Technology Operations division responsible for Telecommunications, Desktop Support, Integrated Electronic Security Systems support and Help Desk support for all MTA B&T locations operating 24/7/365. Direct and provide leadership to achieve successful implementation of telecommunications projects, voice and data infrastructure projects, electronic security projects and computer hardware and software initiatives. Responsible for reviewing designs, ensuring technically sound, effective installations, optimum use of equipment, future expansion and maximum productivity is obtained. Responsible for preparing Technology Operations annual budget, projected and recurring expenses and managing support contracts with vendors. Represents Technology Operations during project planning and implementation, design reviews, policy and procedure meetings within MTA B&T and MTA, State and Local agencies.

 

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration, and 7 years of full-time related technical experience, with at least three years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity, or an Associate’s degree and ten years of experience described above, with at least three years experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Customer focus, communication skills, project management skills and experience in managing a large staff.

 

We prefer previous experience with disaster recovery and business continuity procedures and best practices; experience with Voice over IP as well as Cisco networking equipment; experience with MS Active Directory networking and MS Operating systems; the ability to explore new technologies for future planning and potential implementation subject to business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis. Excellent project management, leadership, prioritizing, strategic planning, managerial, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Establish goals and provide strategic planning. Knowledge of Avaya, Cisco, Novell, GroupWise Oracle, Lenel Onguard, Experience with Ethernet cabling, fiber optic cabling and wireless standards. The flexibility to work in a 24/7 support environment.
