Workers' Compensation Administrator / Safety Assistant
Top Grade is seeking an experienced, Workers’ Compensation Administrator/Safety Assistant to provide routine and complex administrative support to the Corporate Safety Group, assist in safety training, claims administration and report generation. This role will report to the Corporate Safety Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative:
Provide telephone support to department. Prepare presentations, including graphics, for both internal and external meetings. Manage employee mailings. Independently route and answer routine correspondence, screen calls and handle routine inquiries. Provide database maintenance and administration, including data input, searching and running reports Handle planning and preparation for meetings/conferences, both on-site and off-site; setup frequent and recurring telephone conference calls with multiple attendees. Identify and implement procedural changes that result in improved department operations and/or cost reduction. Gather data on safety incidents from US Department of Transportation (DOT) Claims Administration: Assist in coordination of workers compensation claims, including accident investigation, documentation, reporting, and ongoing communication and follow-up as required with injured employees, supervisors and claims adjusters. Ensure timely processing of pay and benefits, and resolve disputed issues promptly. Monitor lost time workers compensation claims and coordinate details of return to work program.
Reporting:
Maintain statistics for OSHA recordable injuries, complete and distribute annual OSHA summaries for each location. Complete other OSHA reports as required. Maintain statistics and provide reporting and analysis of claims information. Assist Corporate Safety in analyzing loss trends and historical costs in order to implement appropriate loss control programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 5 years relevant experience with strong administrative skills Knowledge of workers' compensation claims, insurance processes, laws, forms and terminology. Excellent advanced PC skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint Excellent written and verbal communication skills High level of attention to detail Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, make decisions in designated areas of responsibility Strong organizational skills High level of initiative and ability to handle confidential information
