Assistant Project Manager

The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York provides financing and construction services to public and private universities, not-for-profit healthcare facilities, and other institutions which serve the greater public good. 

 

The Construction division provides design, engineering, procurement and project management services to clients of the Authority.  The Project Management department manages all phases of construction and rehabilitation projects, including contract administration and monitoring project budgets and schedules.  Major clients include SUNY, DOH, CUNY, NYC HHC and the NYC Courts Administration.

 

We are currently seeking Assistant Project Managers to provide administrative and technical support to Project Management on all phases of construction project and program activities.

 

Essential functions:Read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and other related documents.Review bid advertising, prepare bid summaries and recommend awards.Process requisitions, trade payment breakdowns, change orders and close-out packages.  Input data into systems applications and databases. Maintain project schedules and records and prepare project status reports as requested.Develop and run labor allocation reports in CARRS (Cost Accounting Revenue and Recovery System).Review technical and environmental submittals for compliance with contract documents.Maintain technical, environmental and project databases.Issue requests for services, work assignments and recommendations for work authorizations. 



Candidates must have either, a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field or a High School diploma and 4 years experience in the design, construction and/or inspection of major construction projects. Experience with Project Management software preferred.

 

All candidates must also have:Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents required. Excellent oral and written communication skillsDemonstrated analytical and conceptual skills.Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.Proficiency in PC applications such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Access and Power Point.
