Assistant Project Manager- Rehab

AvalonBay Communities, Inc., a national development/construction and property management company, is looking for the right candidate to join our Construction team at our regional office in Alexandria, VA

The Asst. Project Manager of Rehab Construction will assist in the successful completion of several multi-family renovation projects per year. Reporting to the Director of Rehab Construction, your main priority will be to provide leadership, supervision and training for all rehab construction personnel. During concept/schematic phases, you assist in the development of budgets, construction schedules and operational plans. You will also be a contact for local building officials and labor unions.



This position will also take a role in the management of construction documents. This includes assisting in the management of the design team work and conducting meetings with multi-departmental teams to identify and/or present pertinent issues requiring an action or decision. In the pre-construction phases, you will assist in preparing, disseminating and analyzing bid packages to insure their quality, completeness and comparative value.



During the construction phases, you will assist in entering contracts with sub-contractors and suppliers according to AvalonBay policy and procedures. This includes ensuring the integrity of Quality Standards, Schedule Reliability and Budget control.



Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field and 2+ years experience in the field of construction. We are seeking a professional with a solid foundation of technical knowledge and analytical business management. Strong computer skills are also required.
