COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

Established in 1960, AGUIRRE offers various services to a diversified client base. The technical and management staffs focus on client needs first, and the project deliver process second. This philosophy fosters the growth of the AGUIRRE/client relationship and enables us to essentially become an extension of the owner’s staff.
The AGUIRRE Team is comprised of 80 professionals dedicated to client service including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, structural engineers, architects, interior designers, certified facility managers, and administrative personnel.
OPPORTUNITY:
A Project Manager in the Aguirre Building Systems, Inc. (ABS), group will work on client building projects, providing construction cost and schedule oversight including integrated, strategic and financial planning, as well as reporting, change order, and delay/acceleration analyses as required. In short order, the successful candidate will be expected to lead major client building projects with minimal oversight. He/she will be fully capable of presenting to senior management teams and/or boards and be able to deal with multiple tasks and people including clients and other resources (vendors/suppliers, subcontractors, architects, owners’ representatives, etc).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Project Manager in ABS will be expected to accomplish several key objectives within the first twelve to eighteen months. The following represents some of those challenges, but are not listed in order of priority:
Develop trust and sound working relationships with the Construction Sector Leader, Vice Presidents of Construction and Estimating, other Project Managers, Superintendents, Architects, Engineers, and other consultants and support staff within the ABS. Fully comprehend the ABS business model. Build relationships and collaborate with consultants in other AGUIRRE practice areas. Be viewed as a valued asset within ABS. Engender and maintain an environment of teamwork on projects and within office setting to foster the “can-do” attitude.Demonstrate self-initiative in the management of building projects to produce high quality, value added results. Quickly and effectively lead and run building projects on an independent basis. Continue to be hands-on as it relates to the work involved. Execute building project assignments on time and within budget.Support firm hiring activities in the areas of recruitment and mentoring. Play a key role in the professional development of ABS staff. Be viewed as an excellent team member as supported by positive feedback from clients, ABS leadership and peers/colleagues within ABS. Initiate continuing education and cross-training opportunities for self and others within ABS.Demonstrate through project statistics a high level of project safety.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of ten years of construction management experience. Both large company and small company experience would be a plus.
In addition, the Project Manager will possess the following:
A strong understanding of construction management delivery methods and practical field construction methods. A previous background in managing profitable and timely construction projects in the $5MM to $50MM range. Solid technical and analytical computer skills, including excellent Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel software skills, as well as SurTraK, Timberline, and Microsoft Access.Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop and evaluate business and financial projections.Excellent abilities to identify and analyze construction schedule impacts as well as understand and communicate the solutions to mitigate delays and promote schedule acceleration and the financial effects of each.Excellent writing skills and the ability to develop proposals and written reports. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

Possesses a high level of self confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit. An outgoing individual who has excellent interpersonal skills and good presentation skills. Is able to present effectively to senior management and boards. Possesses a high degree of integrity and strong moral and ethical standards. A straight shooter who is honest and upfront. A true team player who is both collaborative and flexible.
EDUCATION:
An undergraduate degree in a construction science, engineering, or architectural field is required. Field and/or increasing levels of construction administrative experience may substitute in part for formal education.
