Construction Safety Director

Since 1918, Okland Construction has been a family owned business with a strong commitment to safety.  Our current EMOD rating is .75 and we are looking for a strong Safety Director to drive that rating even lower.  Our upper management is committed to working with our Safety Director to ensure that every employee works safely in an environment where safety is a way of life.  The types of projects we build include health care, large office, resort, government, institutional, large retail and mixed use, to name a few.  We don’t have a specialized area of construction so we are looking for a Safety Director with both the experience and interest in developing safety plans for various types of projects.

 

Okland’s Safety Director is responsible for overall safety at all of our construction jobsites.  This position is a senior level position that reports directly to the CFO and Operations Manager. 

 

Responsibilities include: Preparation of site specific safety and loss control plans for all projectsDevelopment and implementation of new hire safety orientation and trainingInspection of all major machinery and equipment to ensure that all safety features are in place and functioningDevelopment of corporate and job site safety training programs and implementation and training of those programs at monthly trainings and on site visitsPreparation of quarterly safety reports to review with upper managementDesign and administration of company drug and alcohol policyInvestigation, preparation and follow through of all accident claims and development of action steps necessary to avoid accidents in the futureTraining and oversight of job safety personnelAudit and inspection of jobsites for all of the divisions and development of action steps to correct deficienciesInvolvement in company safety incentive program and implementation thereofEnsuring company wide compliance with all federal and state health and safety regulations and ensure that company remains current with new regulationsDevelopment and implementation of weekly tool-box safety meeting topics and ensure complianceAssisting job site personnel with health and safety concerns and provide continual training

 

 

Requirements:Bachelor’s degree and 5-10 years experience in management of construction safety programsProficiency in use of a personal computer and software programs such as Excel, Word, and OutlookAbility to prioritize and handle multiple, competing deadlinesCapable of maintaining confidentially at all times and to handle sensitive situations with respect and professionalismExtensive knowledge of OSHA regulationsCSP or other safety certification preferredOSHA 30 hour required, prefer OSHA 500First aid / CPR instructor certificationPrevious experience developing and implementing corporate safety programsAbility to travel 70% of the time to jobsites and division officesMust have valid driver license and good driving record
