Sterling Lumber Company, a family-owned and operated leader in the industrial lumber industry, seeks a Controller / Staff Accountant with 5+ years of experience in finance and management. The Controller / Staff Accountant will work closely with the President managing a rapidly growing family business. This hands-on job will involve strategic financial management as well as daily office activities. The Controller / Staff Accountant is a part of the management team and reports directly to the President. We expect our Controller / Staff Accountant to actively improve the fundamentals of the company by implementing processes promoting efficiencies and growth.

To the qualified candidate, we offer:A competitive salary of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience. 401K plan with annual profit sharing Paid vacation and flexible work schedule (hours of operation 7 am to 5 pm) The opportunity to work for a company with the history of three generations of excellence

Job Duties:Design and implement controls and procedures for financial management functions including order entry, purchasing and payroll and profitability reporting Maintain company’s system of accounts and keeps books and record on all company transactions and assets, including capital equipment and inventory Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts Tracks depreciation rates and advises management on desirable operational adjustments for tax purposes Manage and report on the current status of accounts receivable and accounts payable General office duties as assigned

Qualifications:BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major. CPA Certification a plus 5+ years of experience in financial management and supervisory experience Knowledge of Sage – Accpac modular software Comfortable providing hand-written or hand-delivered memos
