Director Financial Analysis

The Nicholson Company is a dynamic, entrepreneurial, growing, real estate investment and development company with a successful 50 year history and projects spanning North America-from the Ski Resort town of Whistler, B.C. Canada to La Paz, Baja Mexico; from Silicon Valley to waterfront on the East Coast.  Our 50+ active projects include land development, retail centers, commercial office buildings, hotel developments, and even a brew pub.  The Director Financial Analysis will work with the C.O.O./C.F.O. to successfully manage the financial position of these varied projects and companies.

 

Job Purpose:

Ensures financial performance and integrity by establishing financial and accounting frameworks; monitoring and improving financial results; preparing and analyzing financial reports; managing investments

 

Duties: Directs finance operational strategies by analyzing data and trends; preparing critical measurements; implementing budgeting strategies; designing analysis systems and tools; resolving problems; implementing change.

  Develops financial management framework including cash management systems by analyzing operational requirements; developing support and control structures and systems; creating profitability and cash flow models; preparing finance and accounting policies and procedures.

  Develops financial plans by contributing financial information, analysis, and recommendations to operational strategic thinking and direction; studying financial models; establishing financial objectives; preparing and updating rolling forecasts; preparing annual and three-year operating and capital budgets.

  Implements finance budget by communicating with partners and project managers; anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; developing forecasts and action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.

  Improves financial performance by developing operating and financial metrics; analyzing results and trends; providing budget variance feedback; reviewing contracts ; driving financial accountability throughout operating units.

  Communicates financial information in a clear, easy to understand format to management outside the Finance department, as well as to outside investors, partners, and financial institutions.

  Leads field and financial due diligence for new acquisitions and projects; Oversees the set up of new properties and the disposition of sold properties.

  Fulfills accounting requirements by establishing and maintaining system of accounts; maintaining transactions and records; preparing and analyzing financial reports; contracting with external auditors; filing required reports; maintaining compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP); planning tax requirements; developing and enhancing internal controls.

  Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging financial practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

  Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership, accomplishing objectives on time, and responding to new and different requests; while exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

B.S. Acctg or Finance required; CPA and/or MBA are plusses; VBScript/ASP capability a plus
