The Foreman/Electrician is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of a crew of electricians, apprentices and laborers on a job site as well as ensuring that all work installed is completed on time, on budget and according to all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Conduit layout and installation Branch circuitryDistribution wiringInstallation of cabletray,transformers,switchgear,motor controls and bus ways.Cad WeldsTermination of switchgear and devices.Testing ground rodsTesting voltageUse of cable pulling equipment, conduit benders, hand tools (drill motors, sawzalls,etc.)Understanding and reading of blueprints and specifications.Planning/look ahead scheduling/manpower projectionsRunning crewsScheduling the Delivery of and ordering materialsCompletion of daily logs or work ticketsComputer skills (Excel, AutoCAD, Word)Punch list completionUnit trackingSubmissions of hoursWorks on energized circuits or equipment. Submittals, request for proposalsSafety procedures and requirementsQuality control processes and proceduresConducting safety and quality control inspections, forcing related Company policies and implementing a job site safety program. Ensuring that all deficiencies are corrected. Coordinating work with other crafts on the job site. Executing daily reports regarding the job progress and any problems encountered.
Job Working Conditions and Environment: The incumbent must be able to access work areas that are accessible only by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladders or stairs that are under construction. Additionally, this position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, laborers are often required to work overtime, weekends and night shifts.The incumbent must work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
Job Interactions The incumbent reports to the project superintendent and the project manager. The incumbent is responsible for supervising helpers, apprentices and electricians. The incumbent works with all employees working on a project. This position requires working with outside contractors.
Physical Abilities: Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
Personal Traits: Must be committed to excellence and generate a high quality of work. Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal and maintain a safe work environment. Must wear a hard hat and safety glasses at all times while on the job site. Must wear OSHA approved boot length pants and a shirt that covers the shoulders by seven (7) inches. These are not provided by the Company. Must have reliable transportation and be willing to work on Company projects anywhere the Company works. Must have a valid driver's license or passport to access job sites.
Personal Skills: Experience using hand tools, small power tools, shop machines and heavy equipment.
Required Skills
This position requires: Verifying the accuracy of the timesheets and daily work tickets of electricians and apprentices. Completing the safety records as required by the safety officer. Planning the equipment, material and manpower needs for various jobs. Follow Company procedures for ordering, storing, receiving and returning materials and tools. Performing layout and ensuring the accuracy of as-built drawings. Keeping a daily log of all job activities that were performed such as the tasks completed, problems encountered, pertinent conversations, requests for changes, delays, employee issues, material requests and a photo log. Assuring all permits, security clearances, licenses and inspection files are completed. Communicating effectively with project managers and superintendents.Possess a journeyman's license in at least one jurisdiction in which M.C. Dean, Inc. performs work (Virginia, Maryland or the District of Columbia). Obtain, at the Company’s expense, a CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire and maintain this certification status while employed by M.C. Dean, Inc. Pass a background investigation and drug test.Required Experience
The incumbent must have at least 10-15 years of experience as a journeyman in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using blueprints, schematics and sketches.
