Engineer V #07-149

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Reviews and analyzes structural plans and calculations relating to construction designs and methods for structures built along the Texas Gulf Coast for the purposes of windstorm and hail coverage through the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.  Performs oversight inspections of appointed Texas licensed engineers performing windstorm inspections along the Texas coast.  Provides educational training and technical support to the windstorm inspectors, engineers, builders, architects, manufacturers and consumers.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Chief Engineer with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in engineering.  PLUS:  Four years progressive engineering experience in a field relative to assignment. Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.  A Texas Professional Engineer's license is required. Prefer experience in the design of wood frame and masonry structures and with residential construction practices in high wind areas. Prefer bilingual (English and Spanish).
