Estimator Part Time Position

 

General Contractor/Construction Management firm in the Collegeville area seeks a talented Estimator with minimum of 6 years commercial construction experience. Construction related degree required.  Minimum of six years of estimating experience working for a General Contractor is mandatory. Projects are fast track with aggressive schedules. Qualified candidates must be able to do take off, quantify, and price line items of work on multiple projects at one time.

 

Qualifications include: Experience in Healthcare, Office, Commercial, Institutional, and Retail sectors. Knowledge of subcontractors and material buyouts is required. Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret architectural and engineering construction drawings, specifications and cost/phase coding systems; prepare quantity take-offs; solicit, obtain and analyze bids from subcontractors and materials vendors and, attend pre-bid conferences and site surveys. Conceptual estimating skills with ability to understand, price, and explain estimate content and approach is a must.  Must have experience with both conceptual and hard bids.  Must have all trades take-off experience. Qualified and experienced at negotiating/finalizing pricing with subcontractors.  Assist in creating bid scopes for bidding, including choosing subcontractors, pricing, composing bid qualifications, assembling bid forms, assembling pricing for bids, performing value engineering, negotiating contracts and purchase orders, and conducting scope meetings.  Obtaining answers form architect before bid day, and bringing any unresolved issues to review prior to bidding project.  Manages jobs for the purpose of monitoring budgets, timelines, and scope, and continually communicating these things and issues to the customer/owner. 

 

Requirements:

 Experience in all phases of construction estimating including conceptual through competitive subcontractor bidding.Computer skills and experience, must be proficient in Excel.Candidates must be able to communicate clearly with Owners, Owner Representatives, Architects, Engineers, and Subcontractors.A team player with a strong work ethic.  Must possess excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail. Must be able to work independently.Ability to work well under deadline pressures.
