GENERAL MANAGER, Vice President of Construction
Summary:
To successfully manage the Construction Services Group; responsibility for profit and loss, business planning, processes and procedure review/modification and implementation, financial budgeting, personnel hiring, management, training and development of construction project managers, office staff and field employees and overall project performance for the Division.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Directly manage group of Project Managers and Administrative staff. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Review project plans and specs to determine time frame, budget parameters, staffing requirements and allotment of available resources for the various phases of the project.
Discuss and establish work plan outline with staff; assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority and provide technical advise/trouble-shooting.
· Direct and coordinate activities of staff to ensure project is on schedule and within budgeted scope; review status reports prepared by staff and make changes where needed.
· Responsible for relationships between owners, architect, engineers, and subcontractors; prepare project reports for management, client and others.
· Responsible for financial success of projects and the Department.
· Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements:
· Education and/or Experience
o Bachelor's degree, preferably (B. A.) in Construction Management from four-year college or university with a minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training. Essential: Must have Commercial General Contractor or Sub-Contractor background and knowledge and prior experience managing and developing staff!
· Language Skills
o Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Mathematical Skills
o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Reasoning Ability
o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
· Computer Skills
o To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Timberline and/or Commsense Project Management software or other similar Project Management software; spreadsheet software and Word Processing software also required.
· Background Check
o Must successfully pass background and pre-employment drug screen.
