About the Company:
Nixon Power Services, a power generation company, was founded in 1969 and is headquartered in Nashville, TN. Nixon was named 2006 Marine Distributor of the Year and we are currently the largest Kohler Generator distributor in the world! We provide service to 10 states including TN, NC, SC, GA, & KY, and are looking to add to our growing team.
Nixon Power Services is looking for qualified Generator Service Technicians
with varying levels of education and experience.
Service Technician 'A'
General Purpose of the Job:
This is an advanced level position within the service department. The person in this position will possesses a level of knowledge regarding generator repair and operation that allows them to perform major repairs and installations of generators and associated equipment. This position requires extensive experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This technician has the ability to troubleshoot operational failures of generators, install and test new units, repair and adjust transfer switches and perform major repairs on units. At this level, the technician should be able to coordinate with other technician to complete large tasks as well as guide and train lower level technicians.
Service Technician 'B'
General Purpose of the Job:
This is an intermediate level position within the service department. The person in this position will perform simple repairs as well as preventive maintenance functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
At this level, minimum direct supervision is required. The technician will be able to perform 'major' and 'minor' preventative maintenance on most models of generators. Identify additional repairs needed such as replacing belts, hoses and batteries. Perform minor repairs to units and properly document all work and repairs completed.
Service Technician 'C'
General Purpose of the Job:
This is an entry level position within the service department. The person in this position will assist other technicians in the execution of their duties. A basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical skills are necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires an individual that will be able to follow instruction, work well with direct supervision and apply knowledge from past jobs to future work. Typical activities will include 'running' parts, assisting technicians in diagnostic testing, pulling cable, carrying tools and other required items, driving a service vehicle and documenting work performed in a clear and concise manner. Most important task: Following instructions and working in a safe manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) certificate. Additional training from a accredited technical school specializing in diesel or gas engines or honorable discharge from the military service with a duty assignment related to servicing of vehicles or power generations equipment.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions finished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
