Payroll & Benefits Specialist

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, 401(k) plan and retirement plan). Further the position is responsible for accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls as well as monthly commissions. Timely responsiveness to employee and manager inquiries is essential.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third party administrators. Determine the best plan options by working with the Third Party administrators. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration. Work effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly. Investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations. Analyze, prepare and input in-house payroll data. Use ABRA to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) for management.Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations. Assure timeliness and accuracy of required filings. Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records.Performs various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides General Ledger support. Maintain and organize confidential payroll files. Answer payroll inquiries and resolve all discrepancies as they arise.

Skills, Education and Experience:3 – 5 years payroll experience preferably in-house ABRAPlanning and organization: an ability to plan and manage multiple projects. Strong customer orientation. Attention to detail. Problem analysis and problem resolution. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws is a requirement.
