Project Engineer Needed in Portland! Opportunity to chart your own course for a negotiated builder that is rooted to the pacific northwest. This individual will have the opportunity to sharpen their project management, overall building knowledge and preconstruction/estimating skills.This is the perfect opportunity for a project engineer to join a well respected and reputable 100 year old Northwest Builder.  This person will have the opportunity to work on a variety ground up commercial construction projects for a self-perform contractor.   This firm has been in business for over 100 years in the Pacific Northwest, specifically in Oregon for almost 20 years. They are an open book contractor (will not proceed with a project until the client is comfortable with all the costs associated with building the project) and all of their work is negotiated. They are employee-owned and self-perform all their concrete work.  QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal Project Engineer must have: • 2+ years general contractor experience • BS degree in construction or engineering • Computer proficiency • Experience in detailed submittal and shop drawing reviews, dimensional checking, and material compliance  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:• Working knowledge of contract documents and subcontract documents as they apply to assigned area of responsibility. • Working knowledge of project estimate and project schedule as it relates to assigned areas. • Assist in maintaining the project computerized schedule. • Work with Lead Project Engineer and Project Manager to prepare scope of work instructions, technical requirements and bid packages for subcontractor and vendor items. • Expedite, review and approve shop drawings, submittals and safety requirements. • Utilize the Project Management System for shop drawing administration. • Supply required submittal information such as field dimensions. • Ensure that assigned materials and equipment are released for fabrication in adequate lead time. • Receive and distribute information on clarifications and changes in the work for areas of responsibility. • Obtain and check subcontractor’s pricing and assist in assembling change quotations as directed by the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager. • Assist in documenting changes; maintain project record drawings and specifications. • Exhibit superior writing skills; review and respond to all correspondence to and from subcontractors and vendors for assigned tasks. • Prepare and distribute minutes to meetings as directed by the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager. • Assist in maintaining the project files, close-out and storage of documents at completion. • Be familiar with the company policies on personnel, quality management, safety, EEO, labor, bonds and insurance as required. • Be a leader in open communication with team members and promote good relations with all parties related to the project.  COMPENSATION:Our client offer its employees a generous, comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including a base salary between $55K-65K, as well as an exciting and challenging work environment.  For confidential consideration please send your resume as a Microsoft Word attachment to jscheible@kbic.com and reference job code W-PEPOR.  Please do not contact us via telephone.  We diligently use this procedure and it is the most effective manner to expedite your candidacy.
