Regional Sales Manager

Department:  Northern California Building Products Sales Division

Reports To: Director of Sales

 

Job Summary:

 

Responsible for growing and managing the Northern California Sales Territory.  Reports to the Director of Sales for the Building Products Division.

 

Responsibilities and duties:

 Hire, train and develop sales peopleDevelop needs for new positions, manage territory changesInterview and hire sales representativesLead representatives in setting goals, expectations and plans for each territoryMonitor and follow-up on progress of representatives’ work plansCoach sales representatives on a daily basisEstablish and direct development and training plans for sales representativesMonitor and execute succession planningRecognize and reward performance

 Expected Results:

 Staffing needs formally proposed to Director of SalesWritten reports submitted to explain need for changesProposed changes approvedEffective sales force maintainedTerritory work plans developed and approvedAnnual performance evaluations writtenGoals and expectations metRepresentatives demonstrated improved sales ability and business knowledgeKnowledgeable, skilled sales force developed and maintainedManagerial candidates identified and prepared for future opportunitiesQualified back-up available to fill in when neededSales representative of the year choosenRegional awards and incentive programs developed

 

Qualifications:

Education Required: 

  Minimum 4 years of college or equivalent related experience in the building materials industry; possesses a valid California State Driver’s License, auto insurance, and a clean driving record

 

Computer Skills:

  Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows OS; able to retrieve e-mail

 

Language Skills: 

  Adept at reading and writing; uses professional business grammar and transmit a friendly, courteous, professional and confident demeanor to all clients

 

Reasoning Ability: 

  Uses common sense to fulfill job requirements and to carry out instructions; capable of dealing with problems including several variables; must pay attention to detail

 

Physical demands:

  Possesses ability to drive personal vehicle for extended periods of time; can talk with people both on the phone and in person and hear and comprehend conversation aand instructions; must type with accuracy, write and handle paperwork; capable of walking up and down staircases; stooping, bending and lifting of 50-75 lbs. is required

Mental/Emotional demands:

  Must be a people person; can handle potentially irate customers in a fast-paced setting with a positive attitude using effect problem solving techniques; requires excellent organizational skills; must be able to multitask and prioritize daily tasks

 

Work Environment: 

Works in diverse environments with generally moderate noise levels, typically devoid of hazardous or unusual working conditions

 

Work Vehicle: 

Uses and works out of personal vehicle; all travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy
