SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision, assists in formulating and defining systems scope and objectives. Conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Acquires general understanding of business areas supported to determine specific business requirements.
• Participates in studies pertaining to the development of new information systems to meet current and projected business needs.
• Writes descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or
modify systems.
• Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to improve or create basic to
moderate systems.
• Participates in modifying procedures to solve problems considering computer
equipment capacity and limitations, operation time, and form of desired results.
• Assists in preparing functional, system, and program specifications.
• Assists in preparing proposals and recommendations for management and/or users.
• Analyzes processes to support both the non-computerized and computerized work-flow, including recommending technologies that can enhance the effectiveness of the process.
• Assists in preparation of project-phase plans and implementation schedules.
• Develops and reports against work plans with management review.
• Applies current technology or researches and acquires new technical knowledge to complete assigned projects and resolve issues.
• Participates in department and interdepartmental project teams and may work cross-
functionally to improve processes within the organization.
• Acts as a liaison with users.
• Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Business Administration, MIS, Mathematics, or Engineering from four-year college or university, plus 0 to 1 year experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Computer skill requirements include: Intermediate MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to follow established procedures to perform tasks that are routine in nature, requiring some evaluation, originality, or ingenuity.
• Knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of this particular field of specialization.
• Must possess basic project management skills.
Additional Information
This position supports the definition, planning, design and implementation of production systems in support of Gallo's grape and wine supply. The associate business analyst will work with Production, Winemaking, Compliance, Finance and other areas to gather customer requirements, assist in business process improvement and to facilitate training and system testing. This person will also act as a liaison between crush sites and the technical team producing requirements documents, system testing feedback as well as effectively presenting information to management, business users and peers.
