 Buyer, Strategic SourcingMajor Consumer Products Manufacturer POSITION SUMMARYLead sourcing efforts to support the North American business.  The candidate will have primary responsibility for supplier relationships with packaging and raw material suppliers supplying facility and its subcontracted operations.  In addition to working with the current supply base, the buyer will work to bring innovation to the company by matching supplier capabilities and R&D efforts with new products and line extensions.  Effective project management skills will be required to work with marketing, R&D, production, and sales to bring new products to market on time and cost effectively.   RESPONSIBILITIES· Coordinates purchasing activities with material, service, and finished product.  Coordinates with suppliers including PO processing, tracking, and contract management in SAP.  Ensure supply assurance through properly documented sourcing strategies, transition plans and contracts.  · Perform analysis of supply chain processes and provide data and recommendations to supply chain team to improve overall procurement performance.  Lead key supply chain projects through development and implementation stages.· Analyze the procurement cycle including identification of vendors, evaluation of proposals, monitoring supplier performance, resolution of supplier problems, co-ordination with other functions (Finance, Quality, Engineering, Production), preparation and execution of required changes and closeout of completed orders· Work as part of cross-functional team (R&D, Marketing, and Production) to design new packaging/develop new products.· Provides direction and purchasing strategy to ordering parties (i.e. Manufacturing, services, co-pack/planning).· Monitor and report on hand inventory levels at suppliers.· Develop and publish key metrics including on-time delivery, cost vs. standards, invoice accuracy, etc. · Leads implementation of e-commerce with suppliers using EDI, internet, and SAP· Implement procedures to assist the tracking of manufacturing inventories. REQUIREMENTS· Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related disciple or equivalent industry experience· 2-4 years of supply chain management experience, preferably with CPG company· Functional knowledge of SAP/ERP Systems · Excellent oral and written communication skills· Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize daily activities and ongoing projects Strong Quantitative Skills · Ability to conduct analysis, generate recommendation proposals, and present ideas to Senior Level
