Job Summary

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and authorizing procurement of goods and services.  Responsibility includes the quality, on-time delivery and total cost of ownership for those assigned commodities with the intention of maximizing total value.  the Buyer will serve as back up to the Corporate Buyer.  This position will have to be capable of working in a cooperative manner with all departments within the organization and all associated suppliers.

Experience to include 

 

Negotiation skills, inventory control, scheduling, forecasting, order placement, material planning, logistics background, strong problem solving and communication skills, detailed oriented and organized with packaging distribution experience a plus, college degree preferred, including intermediate computer skills on Word, Excel, business software system, minimum 35 wpm typing skill, 10 key by touch, and basic office machines.  Multi-task individual in a fast paced environment. Bilingual a plus.

 

 

Basic Job Duties:



Develop Supplier sources and relations

Product Sourcing – inventory and non-inventory to meet production plan

Capability to resolve defective materials by assisting Quality Mgr

Negotiate terms and conditions and authorize and issue purchase orders for MRO related items, chemicals and transportation

Resolve accounts payable discrepancies in a timely manner

Complete task assigned projects – directives from Director/Corporate Buyer

Review sales forecast for material requirement planning

Maintain pricing in chempax computer system and excel based purchasing guide

Participate in end of month processing and physical inventory

Serve as back up to Corporate Buyer

Review daily bulk tank strapping – Telemetry system

Order placement with suppliers for chemicals and related raw materials

Input Daily Platts information

Other duties as assigned

Logistics sourcing and cost tracking – savings initiative monthly reports

Update excel freight spreadsheet for CSR’s

 

 

 

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree requiredMinimum 3 years experience in Purchasing and Materials Management requiredKnowledge of computer based/automated inventory management systems requiredProficiency in Excel and Word requiredStrong Logistics background requiredBilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
