Buyer - Raw Materials

We are currently are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and innovative Buyer – Raw Materials. This position will be based in our San Fernando facility. The specific requirements for the position are as follows:

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Negotiates and places orders for Raw Materials with outside vendors; coordinates activities with other departments and vendors to meet required deadlines.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Solicits bids from vendors, negotiates prices, and recommends purchases to obtain the best possible prices while adhering to quality, service and reliability standards.Follows up on orders, verifies availability and delivery dates, and prioritizes, schedules, and expedites delivery of materials to meet target dates, prevent excessive inventory stock, and avoid stock shortages.Updates computer system to track pricing information.Serves as liaison between other departments and Procurement Department to ensure adequate supplies of materials are on hand when needed.Analyzes and reports purchase price variances to ensure adherence of vendors to contractual obligations; prepares weekly and monthly vendor reports detailing vendor performance, reliability, responsiveness, and quality.Interfaces with Quality Control and Technical Operations Departments and vendors to resolve quality and rejected materials problems to ensure departments supporting have the highest quality materials.Provides material source information to Technical Operations Development for new items.Buyer (packaging and print components): Assists Marketing Department in devising and modifying sales support and packaging materials to support product promotions.Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

Successful candidate selected to fill this position will have very strong skills in the following:Responsible for multiple product lines at the same time (minimum 5-6).Responsible for an annual spend of at least $15 million.Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task effectivelyStrong ability to handle multiple deadlinesExcellent parts number and/or Purchase order (P.O.) knowledgeExcellent negotiating skills

Requirements and Qualifications:

Requires one to two years of college or its equivalent and a minimum of 2+ years work related experience. Requires strong knowledge of forecasting, packaging, production, and planning; strong working knowledge of computer and spreadsheet programming. Good mathematical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills also required.
