Position Description
Children’s Product Producer–The Hooked on Phonics Product Development team serves a mission to provide every family with tools that measurably improve their children’s learning, growth, and success in lifelong education. We are looking for a bright, resourceful project manager with a passion for children’s education and understanding of today’s family-life to join our fast-paced, successful and growing team.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The HOP Producer oversees development of individual retail products or components of products. Following an established product development process and adhering to quality standards, is responsible for on-schedule, on-budget delivery of product content. The Producer will work closely with the product development team, the Editorial Director, Marketing Managers and other Producers through a project’s lifespan. Depending on size, scope and content of the materials in a given project the Producer will manage relationships with vendors and other freelance partners.
Manage one or more projects with multiple components in multiple media (print, audio, interactive, manipulatives).Document project progress in creating and updating project plans including; design documents, budgets, schedules, status reportsManage creation of project content including copy, art, sound, design and layout.Partner with educational advisory panel to develop scope & sequence of programs.Following established guidelines craft the architecture, interface, and user experiences from their entrance to our product through departure.Partner with marketing team to create meaningful, useable product packaging.Provide sales teams with key product information and assets as needed.
RequirementsTwo or more years’ experience in educational or child product development including software development, classroom materials, workbooks, magazines, games or home-use products.Knowledge of project management tools, MS Word, Excel, Project, flowcharting tools, Adobe Acrobat.Excellent communication and editorial writing skills.Flexibility and skill in managing others as well as working independently and hands-on when needed.Strong sense of ownership, follow-through and a focus on results.Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while working toward project goal.Strength to perform well under pressure and meet deadline in a fast-paced environment.Dedication to the mission of teaching children and building a growing business team that meets that goal.
