Commodity Manager

Due to our continued growth Weber-Stephen Products Co. (Weber Grill) seeks a Commodity Manager to add to our Purchasing Team.

Summary

Work in conjunction with Finance, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Logistics to insure that suppliers are found to provide "best value" for Weber-Stephen Products. Responsible for organizing and facilitating cross-functional team activities as they relate to assigned commodities. Understand how the fluctuations of the global market, changing technologies and commodity trends will impact Weber-Stephen Products Co. Gather and present commodity data and develop strategies to "stay ahead of the curve".

Major Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and implement commodity strategies that align with long-term company objectives for global sourcing



• Monitoring price trends on all assigned commodities



• Foster further synergies between all Weber Supply Chain departments by taking advantage of all material pooling and cost reductions opportunities



• Develop and implement "Best in Class" sourcing practices with the objective to identify and qualify a supply base from both domestic and off-shore sources



• Fully develop the cost analysis for Make-Buy and supplier selection evaluations



• Develop new and creative ideas for reducing costs on existing products



• Understand the global market place and its constraints and opportunities



• Support business interruption plan



• Negotiates and manages contractual aspects of supplier relationships



• Format and lead presentations to upper management on sourcing alternatives as they relate to new and existing products and processes



• Manage departmental dashboard to include inflation model and reporting on progress against cost reduction goals



• Manages/support current product component requirements



• Develop, foster and enhance multi-departmental relationship(s) between Weber - Stephen Products and key suppliers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technically related field, or equivalent experience



• 5-7 years experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or a technical position in a high volume manufacturing environment. Seasonal business experience helpful



• Competence with Microsoft Office software required



• Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and project management skills required



• Strong analytical skills with the ability to quantify/evaluate manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure "best cost" solutions for purchased components and new product cost parameters



• Demonstrated negotiation skills



• High standards of integrity required



• Familiar with and working experience in a Quality regulated manufacturing environment



• High energy level and strong self-motivation required



• Planning and organizational skills with an ability to handle a multitude of projects required



• Professional designations or Certifications by recognized Purchasing organizations preferred



• Must be willing to travel as required
