POSITION SUMMARY

Perform blending activities in the Compounding operation to manufacture Health and Personal Care products (skin, face, hair and personal wash) in a cost competitive environment.

Follow defined manufacturing procedures to produce high quality product using raw materials. Operate process equipment to prepare approved formulas and mix compound ingredients into large batches.

May be assigned to work any shift as well as scheduled and unscheduled overtime hours.

Blending
• Retrieve ingredients necessary to fulfill order, strictly following batch card. Verify the quality of raw materials.
• Read, interpret and execute written batch procedures for the assigned product formula, including verifying ingredient amounts.
• Collect batch sample for Quality Assurance testing. Identify reasons for product variations when possible.

Operate equipment
• Set up and operate equipment used in compounding, i.e., mixing and filtering equipment, on a daily basis.
• Record and document activity for each production step.
• Release batches to production for product filling and packaging.
• Ensure smooth functioning of equipment and troubleshoot sources of malfunction, remedy through the most appropriate means – self, mechanic, engineering.
• Maintain and clean equipment in good order per applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Operate in a team-based environment supporting entire department’s goals; transfer all information at shift change to ensure continued, efficient production.

Material Movement
• Handle raw ingredients prepared for batch, lift items manually and/or with the aid of a hand jack, pallet jack and tow motor.
• Move large tanks of materials and transfers finished batches to specific areas for product manufacturing.

Cleaning
• Perform manual and automated tank cleaning and sanitization procedures.
• Follow strictly Company and Plant environmental policies and handle all cleaning and waste materials properly.

Perform duties of Compounding Technician within the Weigh Area as needed.

Demonstrate dependability and ensure consistent performance through regular attendance.

• Correctly interpret HMIS ratings and then identify and use the proper Personal Protective Equipment for the task.

Ability to write
• Provide clear, accurate documentation of each phase of production process on batch card.

Ability to understand and follow oral instructions in English to take appropriate action.

Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
• Understand averages, ranges, ratios and percentages
• Understand measurement systems (dimensions, weights, etc.) to correctly utilize meters and scales
• Understand and express numbers in graphs / charts
• Collect and interpret process data for safe and productive operation – heating, cooling, and mix time, ingredient additions and equipment data – load weights, sensor volumes, motor RPM, pump speeds.

Working Knowledge of chemicals, temperature and pressure
• Correctly utilize temperature controllers by understanding measurement systems (Fahrenheit, Celsius) and properly handle steam and pressurized systems.
• Recognize chemical names; observe abnormal characteristics through inspection and quality evaluation of product and ingredients.

Ability to operate pumps, mills, mixers and control mechanical and electrical processing equipment.
• Understand basic interaction of systems and interpret equipment controls, gauges, etc. in order to identify and troubleshoot production issues.

Ability to perform basic maintenance and repair on all equipment.

Basic Appreciation of computers, with Working Knowledge of SAP and batch card system.

Adaptability to perform responsibilities in a fast-paced and changing (dynamic) environment which requires attention over several tasks and machines with flexibility to address non-routine situations.
