Continuation Engineer/Mechanical Engineer
Immediate need for Continuation Engineer/Mechanical Engineer.
Position to be located in Sanford NC.
SUMMARY
Aggressively support Continuation (CE) projects from concept to post-release. Lead/integrate with all other team functions – operations, supply chain, marketing, sales, and quality. Individual must be skilled with the ability to drive required activities to completion that meet/exceed projected specifications, operational, quality and supply chain requirements as well as cost targets and delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead projects from concept to release with strong sense of urgency, utilizing company PCO process.
Responsible for all aspects of design including FEA analysis, and CAD models, specifications, tolerance analysis, robustness, stress and fatigue analysis.
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of validation including, prototyping, testing, pilot build and initial production run.
Coordinate with quality to ensure all CTQ design attributes have been properly addressed.
Create and maintain accurate and communicate project schedule to company.
Coordinate timely resolution of issues with supply chain, operations, quality or sales and lead cross-functional weekly PCO meetings, reviews to ensure accurate and timely information flow on technical and non-technical details.
Coordinate with vendors, designers and/or operations to ensure design meets DFMA requirements.
Create and maintain accurate complete drawing package, costed BOM & product specifications.
Coordinate the purchase of production or prototype hardware and software for testing.
Plan, perform and document validation testing for all stages of projects.
Process engineering change orders to release or modify product.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering or equivalent.
5-10 years experience as an engineer doing product or process changes or design.
5-10 years experience using solid modeling CAD design tools
(Solidworks (preferred), Pro-E, Inventor or other)
Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Lotus Notes.
Expert understanding of plastic materials including material properties and part design.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Hands-on prototyping and testing capabilities beneficial.
Experience in lean manufacturing environment preferred.
Basic design understanding of machining, molding, tolerances, finishes, fits and GD&T
Familiar with PPAP”s, DVP&R’s, DFMEA’s, PFMEA’s
Ability to move design changes from concept to shop floor.
Regulatory agency experience/knowledge (UL, CE, NSF) preferred
Hands-on experience with pool equipment systems preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to communicate effectively in the English language.
