Cost Accountant

Visual Pak is a contract packaging and manufacturing company with divisions specializing in co-packing of manufactured goods, and liquid blending and filling.  Our recent growth has created an opening at our location in north suburban Chicago for a Cost Accountant.   

 

This individual will be responsible for managing the cost accounting function across the organization.  He/she will support management with cost and inventory analysis and be responsible for inventory account reconciliation, monthly cycle count reporting and auditing.  This person will also assist in calculating and setting cost standards. 

 

Responsibilities will include:
Develop standard costs for raw and finished goods items Support management with cost and inventory analysis Calculate and analyze labor and overhead rates Perform cost analysis on various initiatives Identify improvements to costing methods and propose solutions Reconcile the perpetual inventory to the general ledger Audit the cycle count program on a quarterly basis Lead the implementation of physical inventories Assist in capturing and analyzing all manufacturing variances Perform month-end close duties including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations Perform other duties as assigned

 

Good communication and organizational skills, and strong analytical abilities are necessary, as is the ability to supervise and work with others in a leadership and team environment. The successful candidate will be ready for a leadership role.

 

What we require:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting is required

CMA or progress toward this designation is highly preferred

3-5 years of cost accounting experience in the manufacturing and/or packaging industries

Strong Excel skills

Experience with an ERP system is preferred

Proven ability to solve problems

Ability to effectively interface with various levels within the organization

Experience with packaging manufacturing a plus
