Job Description

We’re looking for a Customs & Compliance Manager to join our team at our World Headquarters in Itasca, IL.

As our Customs & Compliance Manager, you will insure compliance with all applicable import/export laws and regulations. Specific emphasis will be on classification, valuation, C-TPAT, NAFTA, country of origin markings, and the claiming of assists.

 

Responsibilities



Audit of import entries and manage the payment of ocean freight charges against agreed contractsIssue classifications as required and Master Parts List maintenanceManage C-TPAT, NAFTA and Assists declaration and reportingIdentify, develop and conduct training to the organization on Customs and Compliance topics. Topics could include Assists, C-TPAT requirements, product classifications, etc. Provide leadership, coaching, and development to direct report. Ensure performance objectives are set and managed to department and corporate standards and deadlines. Provide an atmosphere, which cultivates team and personal growth.

 

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 5-7 years experience working in Logistics, preferably Customs and Compliance.  Prior experience in a managerial role, specifically leading the Customs & Compliance function and team.  Solid knowledge and understanding of customs laws and regulations.  Understanding of Incoterms, the Customs Modernization Act (Mod Act), the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP,) the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT,) the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA,) and complete knowledge of the HS tariff.  Highly organized, analytical and high attention to detail.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Strong PC skills, Oracle experience is a plus.  Needs to be customer service oriented.
