DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR / SQL DATABASE DEVELOPER FULL-TIME Van Nuys, California  POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Database Administrator will be responsible for making sure database servers are properly configured and tuned to meet the needs of corporate business application systems.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· The Database Administrator will provide installation, problem resolution, and operational support to administrators and end users of ERP, Warehouse management and other complex networked applications

· The Database Administrator will provide application support for software change testing, installation and troubleshooting

· Provide application database support for verifying or helping to verify data integrity, creating and testing backups.

· Ensuring maximum uptime, and maximum performance give budgetary constraints

· Configure Database Systems, including backup and restore procedures

· The Database Administrator will perform periodic database maintenance & performance tuning

· Database Requirements Analysis

· The Database Administrator will write, run and troubleshoot SQL code including stored procedures

· The Database Administrator will construct OLAP cubes from application databases

 

 

STANDARD OF CONDUCT

 

The Database Administrator is expected to provide technical leadership within the department, including adherence to departmental and company standards of work.  When dealing with Vendors, must represent the company in a businesslike and professional manner.  Clear and concise communication is required with respect to all aspects of the job.  The Database Administrator must be able to communicate effectively with IT management as well as all other members of the technical staff.

 DEGREE OF SUPERVISION

 

This position requires the ability to work independently, concurrently on multiple projects and priorities with little supervision. 

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

 

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science is required.  A Master’s Degree is preferred.  Professional certifications in Database Design and administration are highly desirable.

 

 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/PREFERRED 

· 5 years experience in providing technical support to database driven applications

· 2 years experience managing Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 database systems

· 2 years experience database design and developing database applications

· Solid Experience writing SQL queries/stored procedures

· .NET, VB, C# programming and command scripts experience is highly desirable

· Experience with data warehouses, SQL Reporting services, DTS and SSIS desirable

· The Database Administrator will must have excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products

· Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems is highly desirable
