Director - Customs, Imports, Product Container Logistics

Position is located in Decatur, IL
This is a full-time/exempt position


Description:
The primary role of this position is to manage company imports, custom procedures, exports and the product side of international container shipments. The position will supervise a staff of international traffic coordinators and document customer service representatives. Considered candidate will use skills of customs brokering. The position also requires someone committed to the management in the areas of:

- Freight Bookings
- Document preparation for customs
- AES Direct US Shippers Export Declaration filing for the company
- Accounts Payable – effective management of timely payments
- Accruals
- Cost Containment – efficiencies for next level in the Supply Chain
- Communication – provide information & guidance to sales division regarding international container shipments
- Customer Service
- Extensive Import, custom, and freight forwarding experience

Considered candidate must be willing to develop and guide staff on the import and export side. The position must also be able to make decisions/judgment calls based on internal and external situations prioritized to meet customer expectations in completing their supply chain. Position requires the ability to create efficiencies in this portion of the supply chain for the company. The candidate must have excellent communication, negotiation and closing skills.
Requirements:
Only candidates with extensive transportation/logistics experience will be considered. Customs broker license or experience in customs brokering required.
Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in US/International Container Shipping and prevalent to the position based on description required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required. The candidate must be able to speak clearly and have good listening skills, read, comprehend and communicate, orally and in writing in order to effectively communicate in person and by phone.
