Senior HR position responsible for the development, implementation and administration of policies and programs for staffing, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, organizational development, regulatory compliance to meet the business strategies and customer requirements of three sites under his/her responsibility. This position reports to the site GM and to the VP, HR. Responsibilities are varied and include the following:Develop and direct the establishment and maintenance of policies, procedures, plans, programs and budgets dealing with the specific activities of staffing, employee relations, compensation and benefits, employee development and training, organizational development, HR information systems to meet each site’s business plan and competitive strategy in a cost effective manner. Ensure policies, procedures, plans, programs and budgets align with Corporate. Partner with site leadership in the organization’s strategic planning efforts, providing insight on vital HR concerns and ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. Provide counsel to managers and employees on human resources issues, organization structure and development. Establish and maintain an effective and credible relationship with both management and employees; works closely with line management to provide support, planning and problem solving. In conjunction with the corporate Director of Staffing, plan and direct the organization’s recruitment, selection and placement of qualified managers and personnel with the critical technical and management skills required to ensure the continuity of operations. Administer an effective performance management system aimed at improving employee and organizational productivity. Develop training and development plans to meet regulatory compliance while focusing on building the critical skills and competencies required to handle present and future jobs more effectively. Ensure implementation and administration of succession planning program. In partnership with Corporate Compensation department, develop, implement and administer fair and equitable reward systems that meet the strategic and competitive demands of the business. Develop and implement plans to introduce and manage cultural change within the organization to improve organizational effectiveness; ensures that organizational strategies, structure and processes are consistent with Corporate as well as evolving site business needs. Serve as the site’s chief spokesperson with outside agencies related to its employees (e.g., EEOC, DOL, Worker’s Compensation Insurance, legal counsel, etc.) Assure compliance with laws and regulations related to employees and their relationship with their employer. Develop and manage the department budget.
Credentials and Ideal Candidate Profile:
Candidate should have a minimum 10 years broad and progressive experience in human resources with 3-5 years in a management role within large organizations with progressive HR systems and processes. Exposure to the pharmaceutical or related technical industries preferred and a minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment is required. BS/MS in relevant discipline is required. Candidate should have expert knowledge in HR management concepts with a strong consultative, but results oriented approach. Advanced PC skills are also necessary.
Candidate should have demonstrated success in collaboration w/ others and independent thought. Understanding of manufacturing industry and contract services business issues and trends is also needed. Analytical ability, both interpersonal and issue-related; good judgment and ethics; professional presence and demeanor; strong interpersonal skills and political savvy are all necessary. Strong business orientation and financial skills, excellent negotiation and contracting skills, ability to “get the job done” and take responsibility for results without direct authority, and the ability to coordinate, facilitate and organize resources are skills the ideal candidate possesses. In addition, the ability to develop strategic relationships; strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to provide superior customer service orientation will be necessary. The candidate should be willing to travel.
The Director of Human Resources will manage HR staff, including Managers, Generalist/Specialist, and administrative support.
