Director Of Product Management
Description of Function and Responsibilities:
In this position you will be responsible for all aspects of the product strategy for FETCO® product lines. You will work directly with research & development, marketing, operations, finance, and sales to execute a successful product strategy to meet business and market requirements.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the product life cycle from product idea generation through end of life, including development of Product Scope Requirements Documents. You will also be responsible for ensuring the cross-functional development team meets the product, business, and time-to-market requirements defined for each program. You will be accountable for decisions involving all aspects of your product line(s).
Your success will be measured by product business plans that are realized on time and exceed ROI.
Job Functions: Optimize Investments in Product Development Define clear business plans integrating company core competencies, time to market, product costs, channels and competitionEnsure business inputs are complete and representative Prioritize product development to meet both long and short term revenue objectives Communications Skills Clearly articulate product roadmaps and plans to senior management Communicate highly technical features and functionality to less technical business and financial decision makers Product Strategy and Definition Understand and interpret market requirements from senior management Integrate competitive, business, and resource considerations to develop product plans that lead in the market place Prioritize feature and product requests while considering development and to- market impacts Gain buy-in between research & development, marketing, sales and management Understand and interpret real-world deployment and troubleshooting requirements
Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate is a senior product line manager with a proven track record of managing food equipment products through the complete product life cycle. You will have successfully delivered profitable products to the market that meet market requirements, exceed ROI objectives, and are introduced on time. This achievement will have been realized through successful coordination of research & development, operations and product marketing activities. You will have strong experience managing multiple concurrent and complex projects. Your background is across several business and customer-related areas, which may include engineering, research & development, sales, operations, customer service, and senior management. You will have direct experience managing resources within your authority and outside your authority. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills and will be a self-directed and independent worker who can also lead cross-functional and cross-organizational projects.
Excellent leadership, organization, communications, and decision-making skills, judgment, and technical knowledge are essential.
Professional Background and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in EngineeringMinimum 5 years experience in product developmentThorough understanding of Product Line Management processes and procedures Strong technical, financial, and project management skills Very comfortable speaking with internal and external customers at all level (sales, marketing, senior management) Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills Demonstrated ability to work across cross-cultural, cross-geography, and multi-disciplinary teams, i.e., sales, operations, marketing, engineering, finance, and customer service
