Director, Planning & Purchasing

We are currently recruiting for a Director of Planning & Purchasing to aggressively pursue strategies for continuous improvement in supplier development, supplier management, cost reduction, material planning and control, and integration of supply chain elements with specific emphasis on sales and operations planning, forecasting and inventory management. In this position you will report to the Vice President of Operations and be part of the team responsible for ensuring that every dog and cat has their food and treats in their dish when they want them!

 

You will lead the implementation of enhanced systems to support the growth of our business with accurate and timely demand forecasting and supply planning, working in conjunction with our Sales team.   Ensure systems and tools are in place to accurately predict demand and lead a cross functional effort to establish next generation systems and tools, bringing new creative methods to the fulfillment and logistics processes and finding solutions to better understand the real demand.  Manage a staff of 6.

 

This position is ideally suited for an individual who has strong leadership and communication skills and is analytical and capable of diving into the details.  Other requirements include:  BS degree in a related field 10+ years of supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment,  (food industry a plus) or in a consumer products/goods company Must have extensive ERP systems experience and knowledge, with a proven track record of building and managing systems and procedures in forecasting and sales and operations planningStrong leadership abilities; fair in his/her dealings with people; energetic, approachable, friendly and fun.  The mental toughness to handle challenging opportunities and make difficult decisions  Strong negotiation and influencing skills to operate in an environment with significant cross functional collaboration.  A “do what it takes” attitude who is not afraid to roll up his/her sleeves and get work done without a large staffExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening); analytical problem solving skills, with a common sense and practical solutions orientationHigh energy level to thrive in a fast paced environmentHold certification through APICS, NAPM, or other supply chain programs.  PC literacy with MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Word Ability to travel up to 25%
