Director of International Business Development

First Act Inc. is a marketer of quality musical instruments, accessories, juvenile products and published materials headquartered in Boston.  We have aggressive plans for our future, and we are looking for an experienced Sales Executive to develop our International customer base.

 

The Director of International Business Development will be responsible for both new account development and further penetration of existing accounts in Europe, Asia and Latin America.  You will be selling a line of quality, innovative, musical instruments, accessories and juvenile products sold through retail channels.  The product mix includes many skus sold both to the juvenile market and electronics consumer through large mass merchant retailers, specialty stores, toy stores, and wholesale clubs.  Prior experience working with large international retail customers and selling juvenile product lines, electronics, recreational products, or related categories is a must.

 

A high energy level and a strong desire to “pioneer” new products and brands to customers are essential. We are looking for an individual who hates to lose, has a passion for our product, and has the strong work ethic required for a business with aggressive growth goals.  The successful candidate will have an “ownership” mentality, managing company expenditures cautiously while generating sales that significantly add to the top and bottom line. 

 

Education, experience, skills, and abilities:

 

The ideal candidate will have over 10 years previous experience in consumer products sales to large International Retailers.  You must have a track record of successful relationships and results with retailers including ASDA, Carrefour, and the international divisions of major US retail customers such as Sears K-Mart, Costco and TRU.  A desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is a must.  A strong track record of building brands through professional sales efforts is required.  Exceptional written, verbal, and group presentation skills, and the ability to think on your feet are key. 

 

A bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Business Administration or the equivalent experience is required.  The preferred candidate will be fluent in English and Mandarin.  Significant international travel to customer base in Europe and Latin America as well as travel to Hong Kong and attendance at tradeshows will be required.
