Director of Vendor Quality, Support and Development

Purpose
As Diageo positions itself to be the manufacturer of premium beverage alcohol and the supplier of choice, it is imperative to have materials that are “fit for use” with which to operate- whilst delivering Diageo’s vision and powerful mandate for a culture underpinned through our supply chain with the following key Quality and Safety requirements: ·Safe Environment·Prevention and Early Detection·Compliance·Continuous Improvement Significant change and a strong leader are required to deliver these key Quality and Safety requirements with the expected output being: ·Preventing delays in production· Ensuring the consistency in fully meeting customer orders·Lowered costs due to re-work, testing and mediation, and ·Improved Customer Satisfaction The Director of Vendor Quality will lead improvement of these areas: ·Global Vendor Quality Process · Vendor processes · Vendor quality capability

Management Responsibility
The Director, Vendor Quality VQM has direct responsibility for:· Owning the relationships with vendors that support our business· Leading the definition of qualification, de-authorization and reinstatement criteria · providing quality leadership, direction and quality expertise to assigned vendors· lead the identification, prioritization and timely resolution of chronic quality-related problems with vendors · communicating with Senior Management · managing time and resources to assure all assigned plants receive appropriate levels of support· developing the technical and professional skills of the Vendor Quality Manager

Key Outputs/Deliverables
Responsible for:· Defining and implementing a vendor quality program· Contribute to the technical content of the vendor audit program; assure completion of corrective action plans to address audit findings, improvement opportunities, customer and consumer complaints· Identify, prioritize and execute continuous improvement programs among vendors· Assure vendors provide materials that are fit for use; assure the continuous improvement of vendor supplied materials·Implement and routinely review vendor quality performance (including Procurement and Conversion management); ensure effective two-way communication of plant needs, concerns, and progress across all levels of the organization ·Share successful practices ·Lead training and correct application of quality tools ·Spearhead implementation of Quality Management Systems within vendor operations· Managing the Vendor Quality Manager (Band 5) and Vendor Quality Engineers (Band 6)

Experience
Minimum: Bachelor degree in a Technical / Science discipline (Packaging, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science, etc.) 10 – 15 years in developing and implementing vendor quality programs within a consumer products company with significant quality management and leadership experience (manufacturing or supporting Quality and Technical Services functions). 5 –10 years Quality Auditing experience.Experience in the application of quality tools (GMP, HACCP, Pareto, Histograms, Kepner-Tregoe, Brainstorming, Fishbone, Cp, CpK, ANOVA, control charts, DOE, Regression Analysis, Statistical Sampling, Tests of Significance, Ishikawa, Affinity Diagrams, Flowchart, FEMA, Quality Audit)
