Disaster Recovery Engineer

NBTY, Inc is currently seeking a Disaster Recovery Engineer to be responsible for leading the design, implementation, maintenance, and administration of a corporate wide Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Program (BCP) to help protect people and building and information assets. The Disaster Recovery Engineer will provide leadership in coordinating, assessing, developing and communicating technical IT Disaster Recovery requirements as well as lead Business Continuity planning efforts across key business units worldwide.
Responsibilities:
· Will be responsible for planning and implementation of technologies, processes, plans and testing initiatives in order to help protect corporate assets
· Will be required to Project Manage key initiatives involving data center design and for redundancy purposes as well as lead efforts to analyze Business Impact, Command Center and Recovery Time objectives if a serious disruption were to occur
· Oversee and participate in all DR and BCP testing phases for IT and Core Business Unit teams to ensure timely recovery in the event of a disaster
· Establish a comprehensive testing schedule and oversee the coordination of all testing processes and resources
· Assumes leadership role for helping the development, coordination and maintenance of all business contingency plans and mapping changes to IT specifications to ensure our continued ability to recover, in the event of an unforeseen disruption to facilities, technology systems or applications
· This role works directly with various IT and Business management teams across the company to ensure changes are included with the planning efforts. For example, as new equipment, facilities, services, and systems are installed and that the disaster recovery issues are addressed.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of four to six years related experiences with managing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity programs in mid sized companies (10,000 people +, many locations) preferably in a manufacturing or banking industry vertical.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable
· Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or equivalent professional certification preferred
· Experience with SAN Architecture, High Availability Solutions, Storage Replication and Switchover Designs, Data Center design and construction, HVAC, Fire/Cooling, UPS and Generator Capacity and review procedures.
· OS400, Windows and Unix platform familiarity.
· SAP Disaster Recovery Experiences a huge plus
· MS SQL, Oracle disaster recovery principles preferred
· Business Impact Analysis experiences necessary (BIA, RTO, RPO., Back-up policy, SLA)
