Position Purpose: The person in this position is responsible for purchasing food ingredients and related items for Dairy Foods. This person will also be in charge of optimizing the supply chain by continuing to investigate lower cost/higher quality ingredient vendors. This person will be actively involved contract negotiation and effectively managing vendor relations. In addition, the buyer is a key contact for Land O'Lakes plants and R&D for projects.

 

50% Procurement of raw materials; including, ingredients, flavors, and colors. This role also includes managing plant inventories of these raw materials and vendors relations.

35% R&D and cost savings projects.

15% Commodity analysis, and presenting to business groups

 

Required (Basic) Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Economics, Finance or related field required. 2+ years of prior purchasing and/or logistics experience.

 

Required Competencies & Other Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Must be detail oriented. Ability to interact effectively with vendors via phone and in-person. Accuracy in data entry of purchase orders and updating price lists required.

 

Preferred Experience & Education: Commodity risk management experience preferred.

 

Preferred Competencies & Other Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Access and Powerpoint preferred. JDEdwards experience preferred.

 

Percentage of travel 10%
