International Tax Manager/Associate
Dole Food Company, Inc., with 2006 revenues of $6.2 billion, is the world's largest producer and marketer of high-quality fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and fresh-cut flowers. Dole markets a growing line of packaged foods and frozen fruit and is a produce industry leader in nutrition and research. Provides support and assistance to the Director of International Tax to ensure that Dole Food Company, Inc. (Dole) and affiliates' foreign tax liability, as well as U.S. tax liability on non-US source income, is maintained at the lowest possible rate, while in compliance with tax laws and accounting policies relevant to applicable jurisdictions. The position also supports the Director of Tax Accounting and Planning in preparing and analyzing Dole's foreign tax provision in accordance with FAS 109. The primary functions of the position include,Responsibility for coordinating the preparation and filing of US informational returns (e.g. Forms 5471, 8858, 8865),Support the Director of International Tax in the completion of transfer pricing studies and implementation of resulting recommendations,Support the Director of Tax Accounting and Planning in preparing the quarterly and annual income tax provision,Monitor transfer pricing policies and review target operating profit margins on a worldwide basis,Utilizes technical tax expertise to assist international business operations in structuring and conducting their day to day business activities in a tax efficient manner,Assists the Director of International Tax in performing tax and business analysis of acquisitions, divestitures and restructurings involving foreign affiliates or foreign operations,Participates with the Director of International Tax in identifying and evaluating various foreign tax planning opportunities, and makes recommendations regarding their implementation,Recommends and assists in the implementation of changes to Dole's legal entity structure, policies, operations and business practices in order to minimize taxes on foreign operations,Assists in the international aspects of US tax audits, as well as local audits of foreign affiliates, including drafting responses to requests for information and with the tax controversy group,Provides advice to Corporate Treasury department in order to optimally manage worldwide cash positions in a tax efficient manner, including financing for off-shore transactions, and tax efficient repatriation of offshore earnings,Provides assistance in drafting internal legal documents, including contracts, promissory notes, and board minutes,Provides guidance to respective accounting departments as to the proper accounting for transactions involving international operations,In connection with accounting, legal, and IT departments, provides assistance in the design of systems and procedures to implement tax saving ideas, andPerforms tax research and planning in connection with all of the above activities. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: International travel to Dole's foreign operating units, as required. Estimate 10% travel.Other duties as assigned. BS Degree in AccountingJD Degree or MS Degree in Accounting or Tax is preferredCPA or CPA candidate preferredPrefer 2+ years of relevant experience (Big 4 or Fortune 500 Tax Department) in the areas of US taxation of non-US source income, foreign taxation and foreign tax planning, and transfer pricing.
