The Java Technical Lead will participate in the development of a large scale business to consumer eCommerce platform as well as participate on the design, creation and implementation of high visibility, market-leading site.  This position will have the opportunity to advance to lead and oversee project(s).  This position is a hands-on java/j2EE development position.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or management. 

 Supervise a team of 4 - 6 developers in the development of application solutions including providing technical guidance and mentoring to the development team.Perform technical tasks related to development life cycles; including database design, objected-oriented design, and java coding. The Lead Developer will also be required to perform code and QA reviews and develop technical documentation based on industry standards.Work closely with the Sr. Director of Ecommerce Technology to plan development releases (aka builds), delivery schedules and implementation.Create technical and resource estimates for new development tasksSet and continually manage project expectations with team members.Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnelDevelop high level technical design for all tasksAnalyze requirements and define technical designs, including class objects and process flowsDevelop prototype classes and other base class objectsLead the team in the maintenance of requirements and technical documentation

 

Qualifications

 Ability to manage a team of developersJava(7+years), ATG (3+years preferred), knowledge of patterns, Spring, Hibernate, J2EE, Oracle 10g, JBOSS, Linux (suse
ed hat, etc)Strong design/leadership skillsDatabase and operating systems experience with oracle 10g and Linux OSProven working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including java, Apache, ATGDemonstrated experience in personnel managementTechnically competent with various software IDEs such as EclipseExperience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essentialIs flexible and can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesAbility to relate to and supervise team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplinesPersuasive, encouraging, and motivatingAbility to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departmentsStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsAdept at conducting research into project-related issues and productsMust be a self starter who is able to learn, understand, and apply new technologiesAbility to effectively prioritize and execute tasks is crucial

 Education/Experience

 University degree or college diploma in the field of Computer technology

6-8 years work experience in an object oriented development environment, including 1-3 years in a supervisory or team lead role
