Title: Safety/KTE Facilitator
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is to proactively facilitate the implementation of the Keys To Enterprise process and the Corporate Safety Strategy at the manufacturing plants. The daily activities of the position would be focused on helping to ensure that the KTE process is fully deployed and contributing to the success of the operation, and helping to ensure that the Safety Strategy is implemented to achieve the established safety goals and ensure compliance with OSHA standards. The Facilitator should serve as a technical resource on both the KTE and safety fronts.
ORGANIZATIONAL CHART: The Facilitator will report directly to the Plant Manager. The Corporate KTE Facilitator and the Corporate Safety Health & Environmental Manager will offer direct support to the position.
The position serves as the facilitator for the Local Steering Team.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES BY HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONAL SKILL AREA:
Human Resource Strategy Management
•Be aware of KTE, Safety and Manufacturing strategies as they relate to daily operation.
•Provide input into the development of those strategies as appropriate.
•Help develop plant action plans to ensure success of those strategies.
•Help ensure that teams are focused on accomplishing goals and objectives that are consistent with the strategies.
Manpower Planning and Development
•Work with plant management team to help develop work schedules that support team meeting and employee training that helps meet plant objectives and all requirements.
•Use personal and team’s technical expertise to identify and facilitate process improvement efforts.
•Facilitate troubleshooting by team.
Organization Development and Change
•Support teams in setting performance objectives and managing processes to meet or exceed them.
•Help measure and monitor individual and team performance, correct shortfalls, and recognize excellence.
•Assist teams in selection and use of problem identification and solving tools and methods.
•Help identify development needs within the workforce and teams that is necessary to accomplishing company objectives.
•Provide communication within the plant and to the rest of the business regarding current performance as well as team and project focus.
Recruitment Management
•Assist in the orientation of new employees in terms of KTE and safety expectations.
Learning Management
•Help prioritize the key learning activities for teams and individuals to support the operation and its goals.
•Develop a training plan with plant management to accomplish objectives.
•Assist in the development and delivery of necessary training utilizing all the available resources. The Facilitator should only deliver training programs in those areas where he or she is the recognized local expert.
•Evaluate the effectiveness of training and work with management on any program improvements or extensions.
•Facilitate a learning culture at the location.
•Help anticipate key future development needs and assist in getting such needs addressed as appropriate.
Performance Improvement
•Work to improve safety and health conditions by participating in accident investigations.
•Facilitate Safety/Ergonomics team initiatives.
•Communicate to the LST on common or significant obstacles to team success.
•Help evaluate team effectiveness and facilitate necessary performance improvement efforts.
•Help ensure the use of recognized best practices to help resolve issues more efficiently.
Employee Relations
•Foster a team environment.
•Help ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are followed in all equipment, procedures and working conditions.
•Provide on-going guidance to employees and teams through training, coaching and input into the Annual Review process as appropriate.
•Apply Guiding Principals in all interactions with employees, peers and managers in order to maintain positive, productive and successful relationships.
•Support company philosophies, missions, and practices, especially in daily interaction with employees.
Reward and Remuneration
•Facilitate the agreed company reward & recognition programs in a timely and consistent manner.
•Provide feedback and suggestions on potential improvements or refreshments of those programs.
•Provide feedback to management on teams and individuals with outstanding performance or performance difficulties.
MAJOR PROBLEMS/CHALLENGES:
A.Typical problems – Scheduling and training of employees, facilitating problem identification and solving, ensuring adherence to company policies, fostering a cohesive team environment.
B.Most Complex Problems – Fostering a team environment, development of safety culture where zero accidents is a realistic expectation.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is primarily intended to be a developmental role that exposes the incumbent to all departments and many improvement opportunities. The incumbent will typically hold the position for a two to three year period.
CONTACTS ARISING FROM THE POSITION:
A.Within the company: all management team members, all plant personnel, Corporate contacts and resources, and Facilitators from other locations.
B.Outside the company: vendors and suppliers
OTHER RESPONSIBILITES:
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
•Lead plant activities to ensure compliance with federal, state and local safety laws, regulations and Unilever requirements.
•Maintain safety policies and records management
•Lead efforts to document and control accidents and safety incidents
•Coordinate, document and organize required safety training
•Manage team to conduct periodic safety inspections and corrective actions
