Lead Cost Accountant
I. Position Summary
Responsible for providing cost accounting and financial accounting support to the Bradley Woods factory.
Primarily responsible for leading and completing the month-end close process, establishing and maintaining all item cost records, providing cost estimates for new products, generating all cost accounting and general ledger entries.
Translation of the factory Annual Budget to SAP ledgers, and the preparation of financial and non-financial reports both internally and to corporate departments.
The Cost Accountant position is a key link between the factory, R&D and the business units it serves.
II. Position Responsibilities
- Cost estimates for new products – prepare estimates by integrating formula and process information with plant staffing, machine and overhead requirements.
- Generating all cost accounting journal entries and allocations
- Coordinate standard financial accounting entries for the financial close and prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Provide general ledger, departmental and other financial and non-financial reporting (i.e. AMIS).
- Translate Annual Budget to SAP general ledger, SAP routings and SAP BOM’s
- Ensure Material Cost Standard accuracy by on-going reviews and comparisons to actual.
- Coordinate the validation of an annual physical inventory count.
- Coordinate inputs for updating the global supply chain information system.
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects
III. Skills & Competencies
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in a cost accounting environment. Manufacturing experience preferred and general ledger and A/P experience a plus
Skills Specific Training: SAP, highly desirable. Expertise in Microsoft EXCEL is a must. Working knowledge of other Microsoft business applications is required.
Certification: CMA a plus
