Logistics Supervisor
Chief Objective of Job: Direct and support shipping and receiving operations within the logistics department as it pertains to the plant operation on 3rd shift. Identification and implementation of best practices for third shift employees will be a primary duty in this position.
Work Tasks and Duties
* Supervise the logistics function to insure compliance with the defined procedures and systems.
* Responsible for developing department personnel, administration of Human Resources programs, and department and plant safety, quality, and service goals.
* Be a team faclitator in the KTE program driving for continuous improvement for quality, safety and service. Duties will be split between the Freezer and Warehouse department.
* Responsible for the results of both the Freezer and Warehouse departments in the area of material controls, finished goods counting, and cycle counting of raw materials.
* Assist in satisfying customer requirements through the control and movement of materials and finished goods during the loading and unloading process.
* Insure all lines are stocked and all trucks are loaded (and unloaded) accurately in accourdance with department polices.
* Serve as an active member of functional teams within the plant that support safety, quality, employee involvement and performance.
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilites - Five (5) years experience in an effective combination of production, materials and warehouse management in a food manufacturing environment. A working knowledge of inventory movement, material counting and reconciling, warehouse planning, and customer service is a must. Work experience in a freezer environment is a plus.
Education - Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Operations Management or other business field.
Work Environment
* This position reports to the Logistics manager. Other supervision in the Logistics Department consists of a 2nd shift Freezer Supervisor and a Warehouse Supervisor.
* Ability to work other shifts may be required to cover supervisors in the even of absence.
* Work will be split between a dry warehouse environment and a freezer environment were temperatures are maintained at -20F.
* Work in the Logistics department runs 5 days per week 24 hours per day. Work on Saturdays is assigned often during the busy season. There will be a few sundays per year where work will be assigned.
* The Logistics department uses both full time and temporary workers. There are approximately 70 workers scheduled each day combined between the Freezer and Warehouse departments. This position will be responsible for all employees, there safety, training, and work efficiency.
