MERCHANDISE MANAGER

This position requires a background that includes experience in purchasing and planning with an emphasis on consumer electronics.  The ideal candidate should have experience in managing all functions of the merchandising cycle, including but not limited to, purchasing, vendor management, contract negotiations, quality control, inventory management and logistics.  This position is focused on maximizing sales by negotiating price terms and product availability, selecting merchandise, placing orders and staying involved in inventory distribution.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·  Meet with vendors to determine product selection, pricing and terms (some travel may be involved).

·  Manage Vendor relationships: Interface with vendors on frequent basis. Identifies needs and additional business opportunities. Continue to be proactive and build strong business relationships.

·  Attend annual industry trade show to source new products and vendors, as well as meet with existing vendors.

·  Research new trends or advances in product lines to make appropriate buying decisions.

·  Extensive involvement in Catalog pre-production, meeting media plan schedule.

·  Control inventory via adjustments to handle mis-shipments, over charges and price protection.

·  Initiate product research for any customer requests and special orders.

·  Purchase and expedite drop-ships from vendors to customers.

·  Manages price protections, stock-balances, overstock merchandise, return issues and other related duties

·  Maintain operating system for all current inventory costs, special pricing and vendor information.

·  Review and maintain satisfactory profit margins on cost vs. sell prices.







REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education:

·  Bachelors degree in business field preferred

·  High School Diploma/GED required

Experience:

·  A minimum of 2 years purchasing/buying experience or wholesale merchandising, marketing and buying consumer electronics.
