SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provides problem solving and solution to machine equipment problems. Will lead and manage machine design projects which will increase machine efficiencies, provide safety solutions or redesign of equipment. Required to have the skill, knowledge and tool and die maker capability. Will generate detailed sketches and produce parts and/or components from start to completion that will be tolerance up to 0.0001. Will design and build proto-type parts for manufacturing equipment
Responsibilities of the position:
Design, engineer and fabricate assemblies and spare parts, including components, tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, punches and gages used in the manufacturing, overhaul and repair of equipment. Fabricates molds, dies and fixtures for use in the forming and fabrication of metals, plastics and other types of materialsRefurbishment of manufacturing equipment and assemblies. Repairs, modifies and fabricates all types of metal and alloy parts and equipment. Manufacturing demand maintenance support.Design engineering and documentation of prototype components and assemblies and machine hardening initiatives. Discusses with engineers design characteristics that cannot be met by fabrication processes and engineer the designs that could be achieved by different component alignment and placement; and changes in size, weight or dimensional relationships of parts.Uses shop mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry to calculate the dimensional sizes and relationships of parts and working tolerances and clearances. Uses standard handbook formulas to determine machine feeds and speeds.Perform all types of welding operations?in vertical, horizontal, flat and overhead positions using stick, tig and mig..Generate necessary sketches and blueprints and document on B&S network.Perform training on process, equipment and technical upkeep.Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Crayola's Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.
Basic Requirements of the position:
Formal technical apprenticeship and/or technical education in the machine trades (5 yr minimum).10 years hands on with all general types of machine shop and welding equipment.PC skills, CMMS, e-mail & Microsoft Office.
