Marketing Director

Brasstech, a division of the Fortune 500 Masco Corporation, is a leading manufacturer of high end brass plumbing products.  We have a great opportunity for a Marketing Director.

 

Working from our Southern California headquarters while managing personnel primarily located on the east coast, the successful candidate will ensure that the strategic and tactical direction of our product & trade brand promise is understood by all disciplines. Working as the leader of the Visual and Product management teams, the Director of Marketing will engage directly with senior management (across each discipline) to ensure alignment in bringing new product to market, exiting product and price point categories as required, developing multi-year competitive strategies, and ensuring growth in market share through a combination of innovation and competitive displacement initiatives. In addition, the marketing leader will ensure product profitability meets or exceeds the stated goals of the corporation.

 

This role is broad, encompassing product life-cycles, product positioning, tactical launch and promotional campaigns that deliver ‘value-added’ aspects to our trade brand offerings.

 

This person will be responsible for:

 

·  Initiating and maintaining communication with customers and consumers to understand the current industry landscape and the current market position of each of the company’s products and competitors.

·  Utilizing Masco Product Design, Vendor Partner, Platform partner services and experience to enhance objectives. Use customer, industry and consumer feedback to identify product and category needs and opportunities and then drive product development to address those opportunities.

·  Developing and driving systematic competitive analysis, as well as continual internal analysis relative to quality, cost, and appeal of the product and profit metrics of the brands. 

·  Defining strategic components of product marketing plan and ensuring that marketing plans are consistent with the company’s product and profit objectives.

·  Ensuring that the company’s marketing materials properly position the company and its products for high visibility and high penetration among high value customer segments.

·  Developing a highly functional team, transitioning roles from the East to the West (not necessarily the personnel, rather the asset requirement) in order to integrate the marketing/product development function into the culture of the organization.

·  Developing pricing & collaborating on cost strategies, balancing brand objectives and customer satisfaction. Maintaining budgeted goals. (Stage Gate)

·  Formulating, directing and coordinating marketing activities and policies to promote products and services, working with advertising and promotion managers.

·  Producing sound financials – product development, R&D, forecast accuracy, life-cycle, ROI and P&L management per product line. (Stage Gate)

·  Identifying and providing options to minimize obstacles.

·  Defining new and innovative approaches to grow revenue. Product/Material/Brand/Channels.

·  Developing consistent and effective marketing materials for advertising subscriptions and events, including direct mail brochures, e-mails, banners and Web sites.

o Providing sales materials, including promotional pages, sell sheets, media kits, presentations and collateral material for sales team

o Managing RFP’s and custom programs for advertisers, coordinating resources and people for proposals and program extensions

o Managing day-to-day copy writing on select projects such as presentations, proposals, sell sheets and other materials

o Working with editorial and design teams on materials development

 

The ideal candidate will have:

 

·  B.S. or B.A. in Marketing or equivalent.  MBA preferred.

·  5-10 years experience in relevant product and/or marketing strategy positions with demonstrated increases in responsibility and leadership.

·  Previous experience in consumer goods industry.

·  Ability to operate as a matrix manager and coordinate people and execute results across multiple areas of the company amid a rapidly changing external environment.

·  Detailed knowledge of marketing principles and practices in a consumer goods/packaged goods market.

·  Excellent time management, interpersonal, communication, presentation and organizational skills.

·  Ability to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

·  Proven success in bringing profitable products to market.

§  Rationalizing product lines.

·  Strong Project Management experience.

·  Proven record of creating and maintaining customer relationships.

·  Excellent analytical skills.

·  Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively.

·  Moderate domestic/international travel required.
