GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position supports high speed manufacturing machines, processes and facilities equipment. It is a key resource for equipment and process troubleshooting, new equipment install support, start-up and debug. It also supports new product introduction debug to the manufacturing.
Responsibilities of the job:Performs all duties and responsibilities associated with a manufacturing team, focusing on the goals, objectives and priorities of the facility and Binney & Smith. Must be flexible in order to cross train as required and participate in teams problem solving to strive for continuous improvement.Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, inspects, and installs production equipment throughout the plant. Designs and/or implements machine modifications to increase throughput and/or safety.Works closely with team members when making changeovers to production equipment.Works closely with team members to perform preventative maintenance on production equipment. Also, disassembles equipment as required, repairing and/or replacing worn parts, reassembling and adjusting, etc. as required.Solicits help as needed from supervisor and/or team to ensure that all repairs, etc., as well as preventative maintenance work is accomplished in a timely manner.Make electrical, piping, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on all production machinery as assigned.Makes minor spare parts and maintains spare parts stock. Reorders spare parts as needed.Reads blueprints and works from written instruction, troubleshooting guides, service manuals, etc.Assists other mechanics. May direct and train other mechanics and or apprentice mechanics on assigned jobs. Assists in the training of production employees.Makes out reports neatly and accurately on all required forms and records as directed. Maintains equipment and work area in a clean well cared for manner regardless of where work assignments are performed.Performs all work assignments in accordance with proper safety procedures.Complies with federal and state Hazardous Waste regulations including proper handling, storing, labeling, and familiarity with Binney & Smith's Emergency Action Procedure in the event of a spill or leak.Performs all other work assignments as directed by the team?s manager, and/or as needed by the team to meet objectives.
Basic Requirements of the job: Associate Degree or equivalent.10-15 years of mechanical manufacturing support experience in high-speed process/ packaging equipment.Certification or 5 years experience in 4 of the following skills: welder, machinist, pipe fitter, plumber, metal fabrication, PLC editing/ troubleshooting, industrial electricity.Must have knowledge of fluid power systems and their components.Working knowledge and ability to calculate, cut threads, valve, fit weld and install steam, pneumatic, vacuum, water or hydraulic systems from pipe tubing to schedule 80 piping, 1/2" to 3 II size.Must be proficient in at least (2) two additional maintenance disciplines such as; welder, machinist, pipe fitter, plumber, HV AC, industrial electricity, etc.Requirements for the job:Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems of a simple nature that would enable him to identify faulty components such as; motors, fuses, heaters, limit switches, electric motor clutches and brakes etc.Must assure all scheduled preventive maintenance is being performed.Must be able to troubleshoot and overhaul gear reducers, pumps, transmission clutch, pumps and compressors.Must follow and instruct good house keeping practices at all times.Must have the ability to work alone with minimum direction.May perform other duties as directed by management.
