NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR I

 

Fundamental Duties

Summary:

A network administrator will be responsible for the Company’s operations of network and telecommunications systems and security administration.  The position ensures data and telecommunication systems are in good working order based on procedural processes and best practices.  Analyzes situations and identifiable factors to determine appropriate action, remediates and documents same. Normally receives minimal instruction on routine work, general instructions on new assignments. Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.

 

·          Monitor for maximum operations performance and plan capacity growth accordingly.

·          Manage daily network operations.

·          Manage, develop and document network operational procedures.

·          Manage and maintain servers, storage devices, routers, switches, hubs.

·          Manage, coordinate and implement server software upgrades and patches on servers and network hardware.

·          Maintain Microsoft Servers: 2000, 2003,Terminal Services, SQL 2000/2005. Other: Linux, Citirx.

·          Administer and monitor Active Directory including user and group security management and group policy enforcement.

·          Manage daily backup jobs to ensure min risk to corporate information assets.

·          Manage and track network equipment assets.

·          Document network configurations.

·          Monitor and report network operations; usage, capacity, change management.

·          Respond to and resolve Help Desk tickets relating to network issues.

·          Evening and weekend hours may be required as needed on a project-by-project basis,.

·          Respond to 2nd level network support issues 24 x 7.

·          All other compatible duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

·           3 – 5 years experience managing mid-size networks.

·          Experience with Active Directory, Group Policies and Network Services required.

·          1 – 3 years experience configuring and maintaining routers, pix firewalls (Cisco and Dell).

·          Experience implementing, configuring and maintaining VPN’s, IIS, FTP.

·          Apple (MacIntosh experience a plus.

 

Education

·          4-year Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience preferred.

·          Microsoft Certifications desirable.

·          2nd level PC support and troubleshooting experience. 2+ years Help Desk environment experience preferred.

·          Apple (MacIntosh) knowledge is a plus.
