Operations Manager - Extrusion

My client is a large and aggressively growing market leading manufacturer of high volume extruded products.  We are aggressively searching for an Operations Manager to manage several “focused factories” (areas of concentration) located on one “campus” of buildings.   This is a confidential search, but we can disclose that the location is in a very low cost of living, rural area of the South Eastern United States, but not in the city for which it is being advertised.   

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary function of the Operations Manager is to manage all departments of this operation,  including Material Blending, Extrusion, Assembly, Shipping, Regrind, Quality, Engineering and Maintenance in large-scale, 24/7 operating environment.   The Operations Manager will be the champion of all Continuous Improvement (Lean/Kaizen/5-S) exercises in the plants, and will work on improvement daily.  The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible to ensuring on-time deliveries and quality product. Staffing of all areas and ensuring appropriate training of staff. The Operations Manager wil ensure adequate housekeeping such that the plant is are clean, safe, and well-maintained. The Operations Manager is responsible for all operational reports, forecasts, productivity reports, budgets, and others as needed.

 

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS 15 years of increasing responsibilities in manufacturing and Operations Management. 4 Years of Extrusion experience from Pipe, Window Profile, Decking, Fence, or other complex extrusion.  BSME, BS in Technical or Business discipline The Operations Manager should have significant, proven experience with continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, & 6-Sigma. Excellent people skills, a “leader’s” personality, and the ability to have a team rally behind them to meet the output and growth goals of the company. Excellent organizational skills to ensure all departments operate efficiently, and to be able to handle the challenge of managing the operations of all shifts. In order to effectively manage operations, we need a “take-charge” personality who can efficiently and effectively identify and solve problems and manage the growth and opportunity this company is experiencing.
