Plant Finance Manager

Our client is a well established consumer goods company with operations all over the U.S. I am currently reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates for a Plant Finance Manager. This role is based at our client’s facility just outside of Slat Lake City, UT and is responsible for all financial related activities.   The Finance Manager plays a key role in the plant accounting design under the Cost & Inventory Accounting group. The position is responsible for the financial activities of the plant. The reporting lines are directly through the financial division with strong links to their designated plant management team.This position is responsible for ensuring a high level of service to plant management and regional accounting management. In addition, the position must ensure that all plant accounting activities are in compliance with company financial policies and Sarbanes-Oxley protocol. RESPONSIBILITIES: - This role is responsible for the coordination of the local plants' financial requirements. In addition to local plant and business activities, the responsibilities require oversight of other plant financial services such as Fixed Assets, General Ledger and Inventory verification.- Conduct Month-end Close activities: Ensuring activities are completed and in accordance with the authorized corporate time-frame (e.g. utility allocations, review of auto-interfaced entries, prepare adjusting journal entries, review of actual results compared with budget, and account verifications). Perform analytical month-end reporting/narrative for local plant management and/or Group management as required.- Annual Business Planning: Coordination and development of the annual plant budget with local management, and regional accounting.- Inventory/Product control: Ensuring accuracy of production reporting, conformance with cycle count procedures, and validity and accuracy of inventory adjustments.- Work with local management to submit quarterly cost change requests to regional accounting.- Monitor plant purchasing/accounts payable activities only as it relates to financial impacts such as: Review A/P distribution for errors and potential 1099 activity, review of accrual report for aged items or corrections required, self-assessment activity and payments, and review of pro-card and other non-purchase order activity for distribution corrections.- Site liaison related to any local regulatory compliance issues, SOX, internal, or tax audits, and RE/PP tax issues.- Team with Regional Operations Controller for: Investigation of site-specific cost and margin questions originating from management. Analytical projects driven by the business issues, such as sourcing, capacity utilization, operating costs, etc.- Coordination of any third party contracts, local banking and cash management, local disbursements, and other site financial related support. REQUIREMENTS: - Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. - CMA or CPA certification is preferred. - Candidates must have a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a minimum of two (2) years experience in a manufacturing environment.- Local Candidates only.
